Lachlan McIntosh

(Highland District) Born at Braemar in 1753 and went to Scalan, 18th July 1770; left Valladolid, unordained, 1778, and went to Corunna and from there, in a dejected state, to the Canary Islands (or Madeira); there, he had a serious illness and a narrow escape from death; sailed to Lisbon, walked to the Spanish border and had just enough money to take a carriage to Valladolid, where he was re-admitted to the college early in 1781; ordained priest in Segovia, 1782, and returned to Scotland; was missionary in Glengairn for sixty-three years, until his death on 3rd (or 9th) March 1846. Lachlan McIntosh is buried in Glengairn Churchyard, Bridge of Gairn, Aberdeenshire.

Pray for the soul of LACHLAN McINTOSH, priest, who having faithfully discharged the duties of his pastoral office in this mission of Glengairn for about 64 years, died worn out with age and infirmities, on 10th of March 1846, in the 93rd year of his age.
